a Long Time Ago…

In 2011 I tried a CrossFit™ class with a few friends at lunchtime. I remember doing back squats then trying to run while carrying a med ball. It was insanely difficult, and I was immediately hooked. I stuck with CrossFit and the focus on functional fitness helped me with all of my sports, from tennis to adventure racing.

In 2023 another friend convinced me to try pickleball. At first I thought it was a bit silly, but also surprisingly fun. So I kept playing and eventually I started to realize how much depth there is to the game. I was playing a lot, but not progressing like I wanted to.

I needed more touches, but it was hard to find court time after work. When I found court time I crammed as much playing as I could into each session, but my body paid the price for so much bending and twisting.

Then one day, on a whim, I went straight from the gym to the court and got a big surprise. The simple fact that my body was warm, and a bit fatigued, seemed to help me relax and move more smoothly. I was able to swing and play freely, bend lower and even see, think and react faster than usual.

I repeated this process many times, often with similar results. So I invited some friends to try some on-court training with me before playing and this quickly became a regular thing. Before long the idea of a pickleball fitness class seemed like an obvious solution for busy players who want to play better and feel better.

With the help of a talented group of trainers, coaches and players we developed the first-of-its-kind pickleball fitness program that lets you improve your health and your game simultaneously without stepping foot into a gym.

We’re excited share this concept with you. But watch out, once you try it you’ll be hooked.
